Description

The Shores of Tripoli is based on the First Barbary War (1801-1805), in which Thomas Jefferson sent a United States fleet to quash rampant piracy in the Mediterranean Sea – and potentially to face a war with Tripoli and its allies.

In the game, the American player tries to pressure the Tripolitan player to allow free movement of American ships – or prepare to be conquered. The Tripolitan player is eager to keep the money flowing from the pirate trade but also faces a growing American threat on both land and sea.
